Host Will Kacy opens a series taking apart the claim that Texas could not stand on its own financially. He uses the image of a blood transfusion: the fear-mongers insist Texas is a patient who would die without federal dollars, but Kacy asks where those dollars came from in the first place. They are Texans' own money, sent to Washington and handed back with the federal cut removed. For one of the largest economies in the world, he argues, the idea that Texas needs a transfusion from Uncle Sam simply does not hold.
